PHUDD - Promoting Health Using Dance and Diet
Rawhead Dance Theatre is a performing group committed to delivering high quality educational workshops. As well as creating multi-cultural and intergenerational stage performances to promote the physical, psychological and social benefits of dance in the community.
We organise classes for all levels in:
Contemporary
Dance (including release-technique),
Authentic Jazz,
Street Dance (Popping, Locking, Break Dance),
Partner Dancing (Swing, Lindy-Hop, Charleston),
Disco Dance
Pilates-based body conditioning for injury prevention.
Rawhead provides dance demonstrations for community events as well as performing their repertoire at conventional dance venues in England and abroad. This makes dance accessible to a wider audience.. We strongly believe in the value of both watching and participating in dance.
Rawhead has performed at a variety
of community events, in London, including: Age Concern Festivals, Camden Green
Fair,
Killick
Street Festival, Lady Somerset Street Festival,
Islington Dance Festival, Glastonbury Festival 2003 &
Camden Summer Dance Festivals.
Educational work is key to the company's aims. Rawhead Dance Theatre has an extensive workshop programme which can also be booked alongside any production. These packages range from half day workshops or lecture-demonstrations to week-long residencies. All Rawhead teachers are fully qualified and can teach ages 3 to 100!
Rawhead provides Swing and Charleston dance performances and/or dance classes from as little as 20 minutes up to 1 ½ hours. Get hep with the music from the 20's to the 40's with performers in full vintage costumes!
In our dance workshops everyone can learn the basic steps of Charleston & Authentic Jazz, Swing dancing and Lindy Hop (with or without a partner) or a stroll (line dance) routine. Ideal for festivals, community & green fairs and special events!
